AVU&RORO: LOVE, MARRIAGE & DIVORCE   "Biblically, I had found my Eve. I believe it’s the same feeling Adam had when he said “bone of my bones…” as he laid his eyes on Eve for the first time." - Rodney Shibambu.  Avuya Shibambu and Rodney Shibambu were three months into a relationship in this photo.  When two people are truly in love they become one in spirit & mind, and this is evident in their love expression to each other. Love knows no boundaries and how beautiful is it to see young couples committed to each other nowadays?... I know, kinda hard to find. To cement this month of love, we chatted with this beautiful young couple Avuya Shibambu and her hubby Rodney Shibambu to tell us how two humans can make their union a success in this day and age. How did you both meet? We met at FNB, The Grove mall where Roro (Rodney) was working. I was a client and he happened to be the person assisting me. Well, I later found out it was no coincidence – he was alr...

FORMER LEARNER & TEACHER TELL THE IMPORTANCE OF A HEALTHY RELATIONSHIP IN SCHOOL  "Most learners who have a healthy relationship with their educators tend to be happy, free and excel in their school work," says Mam Thaba.  Palesa Precious Maluleke with one of her favourite teachers, Mam Thaba MW.  Establishing a positive relationship between learners and educators helps a learner feel more comfortable and safe in their classroom environment. As a result, a learner is likely to trust a teacher more, participate actively in class, behave better and challenge themselves academically.  A convenience sample consisting of 153 public secondary school teachers in the Tshwane area showed that 62.1% of the teachers reported exposure to verbal bullying, 34.6% to physical bullying, 27% to indirect bullying, and 6.6% to cyber bullying.  http://www.scielo.org.za/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&pid=S0256-01002018000100012 Learner-to-teacher bullying can result in negativ...

"MEN AREN'T NECESSITIES, THEY'RE A LUXURY," AMINA WILLIAMS.  Amina Williams.  It was on Valentine's eve when I decided to take a risk to interview one of the upcoming influential young women in the Media Industry, Amina Williams, who is SINGLE!!! I couldn't believe it during her Q&A on Instagram that she is single and NOT looking.  Amina has a background in PR and communications and currently works in oil and gas. She worked alongside other known faces in the media such as Nicolette Mashile, Aaron Moloisi and Jackie Phamotse amongst others.  As it is rare in most of our communities to find such a full house like Amina being single, we wanted to find out how she does it and keeps on doing it.  FOCUS: Why are you so content with being single up to now? Amina: I‘ve been single for about 2 and half years now and during this time, I made the biggest discoveries about myself: what I like, what I don’t like, my love languages, what I attract and everything I had ...

ED's LETTER   WELCOME TO THE MONTH OF LOVE! Life happens to all of us but we should never take permanent decisions in temporary situations ~ Kholofelo Teffo   A time to celebrate love is upon us. This the one element that a human being can't live without. In the next coming days, we will be updating articles featuring different ways in which LOVE is involved. We normally see Valentine's Day being celebrated by couples only or this very month reserved for couples, I then asked myself gore what happens to Singles? Families? Colleagues? The Church? and so on. We've been in lockdown for almost a year now and most of us have shifted from showering ourselves with love and those amongst us. We worry about where the next meal will come from...how about we pause just for this month and love ourselves, celebrate ourselves and life with ourselves? "Don't love because of beauty or money but love genuinely without any cause and holding back."  Love is unconditional...
