Lephalale born and bred Evergreen Arts Centre NPO leader Bafedile Masasa (33) says their NPO focuses on arts development.

"We are focused on developing artists in our area through theatre, dance, music and other forms of art. We try our best to create opportunities for aspiring performers," said Masasa.

"We've had a lot of challenges... as you know that the creative industry is not being taken serious and also looking at the fact that I am a gay person leading this organisation"

Evergreen Arts Centre runs different programmes such as Lephalale Musical where they host auditions aimed at different artists to showcase their talent.

"We've had a lot of challenges, as you know that the creative industry is not being taken serious and also looking at the fact that I am a gay person leading this organisation," Masasa added.

The country has been in lockdown for a year and few weeks now. However, President Cyril Ramaphosa has since announced Level 1 of the lockdown and eased few regulations such as gatherings. With this easing, the ever bubbly Masasa says they are trying to make a come back to their audience after Covid-19 has hit hard in their pockets.

"We had to cancel and stop our performances but we are currently in contact with National Institutions to come on board on our upcoming programmes," Masasa shared.

"We are currently trying to map out what we will be doing moving forward and to ensure that our artists find gigs because this is a job for us. We are also working with schools through Arts and Education. The first school is Phegelelo high school . We are assisting them to understand the book called 'My Children, My Africa' through theatre," he continued.

Evergreen organisation was formed in June 2013 and is operating in Marapong, Lephalale.
