BREAK THE SILENCE! PAUL DAVE STAND AGAINST GBV
Non-profit organization Paul Dave Foundation is embarking on a peaceful march against gender based violence (GBV) on the 15 February 2020 at Modimolle.
The organization says "we get exposed to GBV so much that it feels like we form part of it, and our biggest fear as an organization is normalizing the behaviour".
"This march is a form of breaking the silence on GBV, a way of integrating our diverse communities to find solutions directing to the root cause of the animosity we are facing as nation, whilst concurrently laying a platform for victims to speak out and seek help," Paul Dave Foundation Spokesperson, Koketso Phala explained.
She said they are trying to come up with more durable plans to assist with fighting against GBV and currently they have opened an "anonymous line" that will assist victims in obtaining information on the steps to take when caught up with a GBV situation.
"We are working on expanding durable platforms even more in the year ahead".
Paul Dave currently serves as an intermediate between GBV victims and professional help although they still offer informal counseling.
Part of the stakeholders who will be formed at the march are The Paul Dave board and management team, The Peaceful March ambassadors, Municipal Councillors and local residents.
The march is set to commence between 6:30 am - 7:00 am from Phagameng local taxi rank as a starting point to Modimolle Police Station town where a memorandum of demands will be handed out.
