MOOKGOPHONG RESIDENTS CALL FOR NEW STAFF TO BE DEPLOYED IN THEIR POLICE STATION

More than 100 residents in Mookgophong call for the removal of the current staff in their local police and magistrate court.

This after a young man's life was cut short last year at a township tavern. Phineas Sithole, deceased, was stabbed to death by one local boy.

Residents are not only infuriated by the suspect but say local cops are not doing their jobs properly. Thandi Maringi said, "we are tired of many taverns in our area, some are illegally operating in the presence of police cops. Our cops are only visible during strikes. Someone once broke in my house and I was with my  daughter then.

I called them asking for help and I was told that there was no vehicle in their premises. I then called provincial cops who, maybe, commanded them (local cops) to attend to my matter. They showed up after I called provincial cops."

Mookgophong Development Forum Spokesperson Ezekiel Kutumela said he is very disappointed by the response of police cops after being told about Sithole's situation. Kutumela said the cops arrived late at the scene.

Arial Station Commander Colonel Kekana denied accusations that his fellow colleagues arrive late at crime scenes. "The issue of police cops arriving late at crime scenes happen sometimes, not always. Often you'd find that many incidents occur at once and that will mean that we respond early to some and late to the others because we first have to finish our job completely on one scene before attending the other, " explained Col Kekana.
